INR ⇄ AUD — two-country net worth

₹25 lakh in India plus A$45,000 in Australia is not one number until you pick a currency and a rate. This does both, at the live ECB reference rate.

Reference rate conversion — a bank or transfer service quotes a margin on top, so the number you would actually receive on a transfer is a little lower. For tracking your own net worth, the reference rate is the right one.

enMoney computes this automatically from the transactions you import — Indian, Australian and US holdings in one ledger, with each regime's own tax rules.

Exchange-rate sites convert one amount into another. If your money lives in two countries that isn't the question — the question is what you're worth in total, and a rate that moved 3% this quarter changed the answer even though neither balance did.

The rate here is the ECB reference rate via frankfurter.dev — the mid-market benchmark. Banks and transfer services quote a margin on top (often 1–3%), so money you actually move arrives slightly short of this figure. For tracking your own worth, the reference rate is the honest yardstick: it has no provider's margin baked in.

Frequently asked questions

What is the current INR to AUD rate?

The converter fetches the latest ECB reference rate when the page loads — 1 AUD is shown in rupees in the rate field. If the fetch fails, type today’s rate yourself; the conversion works the same.

Why does the calculator rate differ from my bank’s transfer rate?

This is the mid-market reference rate — the midpoint banks trade at with each other. A bank or transfer service adds a margin before quoting you, so you receive less. The reference rate is the right measure for valuing money you hold, rather than money you are moving.

Which currency should I think of my net worth in?

The one your future spending is in. Planning to settle in Australia? Value everything in AUD and watch the INR leg ride the exchange rate. Unsure? Watching both totals side by side is the honest answer, which is what this shows.
